Upon The Stars Poem by G J Salgado

Upon The Stars

I picked up the pieces of the broken glass
Not knowing at the time that they
Were meant for you from your own mess
As I left I knew I couldn't stay

Something was leading me away
I had to escape beyond the dark house
You looked down when I left that day
Sounds of the wolves begin to howl

Then I knew I was near the place
My sacred revolution took me there
I recognized myself as I saw my own face
The reflection of the moon was everywhere

It was exactly where I wanted to be
Away from the world that I never understood
Starry eyes lit the black night for me
I could see everything within the midnight woods

The forest was the home that has always waited
For my return and I felt the change within
My body disappeared as the human in me faded
Stars fell below and beyond what it needed to mend

Your heart broken upon the shards like grains of sand
As I grew apart from a world that wasn't ready for me
The earth discarded me though I belonged to this land
It didn't matter how hard I tried to get them all to see

Even though I used the future, present, and the past
Time among this life was burning and I have come to its end
I always knew this life would end soon as it never lasts
The end of me has been found upon the stars where I first began
