Upscale Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Upscale

Upscale.
Kept prevailed.
Should be our thoughts.
Resisting ignorance.
And those teachings taught.
To bring about a better life to us lived.
Not too many live their lives,
On appearances.

Remaining foolish.
Produces fools.
And fools reduce a progress.
With this shown to be proved.

Upscale.
With a better way to treat somebody.
Upscale.
Done to do to give respect.
Regardless how one dresses.
To impress.
Or perceive how someone looks,
Has it better than the rest.

Upscale.
How we think and what is thought.
To upscale.
Lessons old to us were taught.
To believe,
A shiny car that someone drives...
Is theirs to own and not leased.
Upscale.
Those visions of zip codes to live.
To upscale.
Knowing no one lives,
Without some stress.
Or immune from paying taxes.
No matter the address.

Upscale.
A better way to treat somebody.
We can upscale.
An ignorance to keep it sought.
And our thoughts,
To keep this taught.
We can upscale.
To find that progress to be made.
If we upscale.
A leaving behind what's been done.
To prove that yesterdays,
Has no future to come.
If...
Relived.
With an ignorance.
To permit.
If...
Relived.
