Used Condom Wrapper - Poem by Lindsay King

it seems these words have lost their meanings
i'm crying
and begging
and kicking
and screaming
why can we not just say what we mean?
why do we poke around
it just seems like it would mean nothing
if one of us were to depart
why can't we just come out and say
honey you're gonna break my...

and every car sounds just like yours
every face takes on a new meaning
i miss you so i can't clean up the floor
your used condom wrapper has got me thinking
i gave in too soon.

well if that is so
your intentions are leaked
and i wonder why you're reluctant to see me
if i told you i wanted a boyfriend
i'd love to see your face
if i told you i want this to mean something
would you turn and run away
well maybe you already did
that's why you're not here.
maybe it's too early and i'm way paranoid...

oh baby what is it?
when we say
what we think the other wants to hear
when we act
on our best behavior just so the other doesn't know our vices.
don't you really want to know me
cause i'm dying to know you
i know that sounds lame
like some cheap 99 cent card to express my feelings
but hon
i am just trying to be real
what would it take
to get you to say what you mean?
what would it take
to get you to come over again?
are you really all that you seem?
do you want to be my...

last regret i'm trying not to,
i'm trying not to,
i'm trying not
to think too much into to all of this
and i can't bring myself
to clean up the floor
the used condom wrapper
has got me wondering
if that's my one souvenir from you.
well it's got me thinking
got me thinking
got me thinking….
