Vapour Trail Poem by linda blackwell

Vapour Trail

Rating: 5.0

You left no vapour trail
To tug your soaring spirit back.
There's just a space between where I stand
And where you've gone.

There is no vapour trail.
No glittering comet tail.
No shimmering track to trace you
Now you've gone away.

Where is the bright cascade
Of falling dust to run between my fingers
As I raise my hands up to you
As I plead with fate for its mistake?

Pull back the memories that I have of you.
Close my eyes as I make your shape return
And alive you are here in my mind,
So to return here, I know, at any time.
