Thursday night

All gathered
Early evening
To listen, to enjoy, to recite
POETRY

Felt like a dinosaur
My fellow poets
'So much younger'
Not yet, worn down

Never-the-less
All gathered round
Fused together, our love
Poetry and Song

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
written 5: 20am,25 April 2016. My wife and I returned yesterday from a week in Las Vegas. On Thursday,21 April, I attended a poetry - Open Mic. Introduced myself, shared two of my quotations and recited my poem, 'State of the Union'. Wonderful night. Las Vegas is the place for Poets of the World to unite.

Revisiting this poem. Oh, I long for the days when I can safely go back there for a chess tournament!

I like this poem of enjoying poetry and nightlife in the alluring Las Vegas.

Sounds like fun. Las Vegas is also a great place for chess tournaments! For many years the National Open was held there, but I never attended because it was held during the school year, and as a teacher, I couldn't take that much time off. Since I retired, I have played in a tournament in Reno, where I actually finished in the money! Six round tournament, won four games, lost two. Lots of fun.
