Venice For You Poem by Aron Heroux

Venice For You

Roses scent your memory
masking what I try to forget
my heart swells as I remember
dry rivers flow
as I remember
those painful-sweet moments
in far away places
alone with you
hand in hand, I led you
I drank your laughter
and inside you I made
those unspoken promises
that lace your lips with
my poison as you steal kisses
that fill me with rage and regret
at our love, which burned
like the sun and shined
like the moon but remained
just as far removed
