Venice, The City Of Love Poem by Mario, Lucien, Rene Odekerken

Venice, The City Of Love

They met where the water kisses the stone,
where bridges curve like whispered promises
and lanterns flicker in the hush of evening.

She stood by the canal, a shadow in silk,
the scent of the sea tangled in her hair.
He approached as if drawn by a current,
his voice soft as the lull of a gondolier's song.

They walked through alleys that knew no time,
past ivy-draped balconies heavy with longing,
past cathedrals where prayers once turned to sighs.

In St.Mark's Square, beneath the silent watch of saints,
his fingers traced poetry upon her skin,
words unspoken, yet understood.

The tide rose, silver against ancient steps,
and still, they remained-
two souls caught between the past and forever,
lost in the city that never forgets love.
