Vigil Of My Soul Poem by Obed dela Cruz

Vigil Of My Soul

And now the mortal sun had gone somewhere,
Leaving me to think about where it is.
High up in the sky, there my hopes wonder
As You reveal to me the mysteries.

Because I’ve seen and still endure to see,
Can’t even forget what happened that dawn
Outside my tents when You bended my knee
Then later awaken with the new horizon.

So I’ll stay awake, no matter how late
Knowing that some secrets unfold at night.
It’s when the world at sleep closes its gate
But my heart remains open to Your light.

For it’s my joy to keep the candles up
As each single moment their passions grow.
Like Your persistence that would never stop,
You are, even days after tomorrow.

You’re the only One that make angels sing
As you call them by their name like the stars.
Still an expectant, You are amazing
You cause my vigil to prolong the hours.

Someday, I’ll see You again face to face
After all the years that went by had past.
Someday, I’ll be found in Your embrace
When You lift me with arms that ever last.
