Voices Poem by Josh Burnett

Voices

The voices scream in a cell. They scream to want out.
The voices scream for you. They scream for love.
The voices scream hopeless. They scream time after time.
The voices scream out. The voices scream for you to hear.

When will you stop to listen to the screams in your mind.
When will you stop to help the voices out.
When will you stop to just take a minute.
When will you stop to realize you’re not the only one here.

The voices scream from across the desert.
The voices scream from your heart to mind.
The voices scream for a helping hand.
The voices scream for someone to understand.

When will you turn around to see what you can do.
When will you turn around and listen to those voices.
When will you turn around and scream back at them.
When will you turn around and call out to them.

The voices scream your name,
But they know you won’t listen,
They know that you are blinded,
The voices scream for your love.
That’s funny those voices are mine.
