The stars are weeping today,
Mourning the fall of one of their own;
He was a cherished part of their very being,
Leaving them all stunned in grief.

The earth has grown moist with their tears,
Glistening upon the ground like dew;
Their anguish has cast such a pall,
That even the light has dimmed.

Once, there was a vibrant hum among the stars,
Radiating a brilliant glow;
All of nature seemed to be celebrating Diwali,
But today, a profound silence reigns.

A member of their family
Has turned away forever.
