Waiting - Poem by Aimee Niree Dowell
I’ve been waiting for the wrong day
to say everything that I've had to say;
I don't want you to go, I don't want to stay
everyone you know is an ass, everyone I know is gone.
You said so long, I said goodbye
You actually meant it this time.
I was just meaning to say what I felt:
that I love you still and that I always will.
No need to say I'm sorry
no need for that today.
Goodbyes are forever,
So I'm guessing so longs are the same way.
The days have been so long since you left me here in disbelief,
I couldn't believe you left me, I can’t believe you said goodbye.
You always knew what to say, you never knew what I was going to say,
But no one ever really knew what I meant.
