Wake Up Again Poem by Anil Kumar Panda

Wake Up Again

Wake up to a day again
To fight for the survival
To bark for my rights
To squabble for a right
Place in the society of
So called do gooders

Wake up to a day again
Eyes still heavy with sleep
Mind not yet ready to
Counter allegations- officials
About papers lost from tables
Work still pending
And paperweights going up

Wake up to a day again
To run fast in the garden
To offer seeds to birds
To sit in the bench in
The park and have hot tea
To gossip as if mind is
At peace about wars,
Destructions and elections

Wake up to a day again
To choose a nice dress
To look smart for the meeting
That may not take place
To attend friends marriage
Anniversary and customary
Wishes for a long life
Of togetherness and love
To fall asleep, exhausted
To wake up in the next day again
