Walking Erect Poem by RAJ NANDY

Walking Erect

WALKING ERECT

By examining fossils millions of years
old,
Found buried in the land of Kenya,
Anthropologists claim that man had first
walked erect,
On the soils of Africa!
And aeons later, during the fourth century
BC,
The Greek philosopher Diogenes,
Had walked in broad day-light the streets
of Corinth,
With a lantern in hand!
Looking for someone worthy to be called
a Man!

Today during this twenty-first century,
Some of us are still looking for an
upright leader hopefully,
Who will rid our country free,
From corruption, dirty politics and
poverty;
Making her backbone strong;
To stand once more upright and tall!
