Want And Choose Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Want And Choose

I want and choose,
To do the right thing...
Felt.
Not to impress.
But to express,
The who of me that I am.

I want and choose,
A better me to be.
And not to feed an ego.
I was taught to learn,
Too many years ago...
A feeding an ego,
Doesn't pay a bill.
Or buy groceries to eat.
And looks to have them,
Fade with age and quick.

Want and choose,
To be as real and honest...
With denials to live,
Left behind you to do.

If others choose and wish,
To stay pretentious?
What business is their choice,
Have to do with you?

Accepting reality to be as is...
Is a discovery to find painful,
For many.
Choosing self deception,
As a way of life to live valued!

'And...
What is it you have,
So precious to treasure? '

Self.
Identity.
And peace of mind.
Found to have earned it.

'I'm not talking about,
That 'philosophical' mess.
What objects, things...
Do you possess to impress? '

God has blessed me,
With an ability to identify...
Limitations.
And...
To ignore them.
For what they are!

'I see.
Is that suppose to mean,
'Something' to me? '

Seldom am I asked,
To pass judgement.
But...
I don't suspect,
Any comments I make...
To you will be heard to hear.
Making clear to understand,
What listening does...
For comprehension.

'I can't be bothered with...
Such meaningless,
And pointless babble.
Just say you ain't got nothing.
That's obvious to notice.
To make 'that' understanding,
Quickly understood.
Rambling on about...
Egos, bills to pay, looks...
Identity, peace of mind.
And earning awareness.
Nothing of that,
Has anything to do with bling!
No 'bling'?
No coin in pockets to target!
Later faker dream maker! ! '

Thank you.
I appreciate your wisdom.

'It's free.
Hopefully one day,
You'll apply the benefits of it! '
