War Unknown In Suffering Struggles Poem by Terence George Craddock

War Unknown In Suffering Struggles

many sacrifice in war unknown in suffering struggles
many unknown fight to defend families share their struggles
unknown at a distance share fear loss dread daily anxieties
countries attacked are defended by the nameless they do not know...

nameless brothers in arms fight for life to survive firefights battles
many fall as shredded leaves cast upon death burning bonfire wars
names of many falling in conflict death fast prolonged are never known
lives lived in a moment cut down instantly perhaps in half a word space...

words again will never be spoken those killed speak only in memories
their shadows never again life bright can stand breathing before our hearts
in time bright memories may shine out present flood rivers of tears...

a few a chosen few publicity fostered in public eye name endure for years
remember the few stood among many shielded on forgotten many shoulders
dead wounded injured unknown join the few in long family memories...
