Wasteland Of Tears Poem by Linda Barnes

Wasteland Of Tears

How do I put into words
After a lifetime of love
An emptiness I feel
Of a loss so heartfelt

Not by death do I mourn
It's of the loss of our love
To accept what I don't want
A loss beyond my control

Separation and accumulation
All our belongings together
Split into after all those years
Now a wasteland of tears

Our love that still exists
Between the two of us
Rejected by friends and family
We comply in due diligence

How can we rectify
And be accepted by them
Who cannot accept facts
That mistakes cannot be the end

We comply as most do
To be loved by those whom
Believe was best for us
We still love no matter what
