We Leave Our Imprint Poem by Linda Barnes

We Leave Our Imprint

Give me your time
I will tell you a story
Of my life's worth
Passed on to my children

It's about sacrifice
For those we love so much
About all our failures
And picking ourselves up

Heartache becomes the norm
Overcoming is triumphant
Crying at every whim
Surviving is the crown

Loving beyond what is known
Comprehending what is lost
We survive no matter the cost
Just to begin a new start

Life is beyond amazing
Through lows and highs
What is left in footprints
We leave our imprint

Where we may fail
We leave behind success
Through our commitment
Our failures become less

Our legacy we leave behind
Sees our faults through their eyes
They do not understand yet
Their lives will haunt them as well
