Waving (Unwanted) Goodbye Poem by Freeyad Ibrahim

Waving (Unwanted) Goodbye

by Freeyad Ibrahim

Heart knows better in love than the head
It is as if head transformed into heart
Or the brain is changed into heart
Or the heart modifies to head
All the same of it goes on departure
The two hearts in love are connected
In one part
Very difficult to part or depart
put one apart from the other
You see the other reflects in anger
Unsatisfied
For they are unified
In a Sacred contract
Separating is murdering
Farewell is a burden
In love
You wave for the departed part sadly
Unwantedly
Unwillingly
Hesitatingly
You stay thinking
Burning
For the other part
That soon must depart
Raising a hand, a trembling hand
the word goodbye Remains
unannounced
unheard

You say farewell
But the word trembles and vanishes
Soon escapes your lips
You want her not to leave

She looks abruptly back
Crying
Shedding tears out her swollen red eyes
Tears gathered in my eyes, too

Finally
"I waved trembling a weak hand to her,
and she does not know
how many hands in my heart
I waved for her to stay.
