Wayanad 01 - The Smell Of Death Poem by Unnikrishnan Sivasankara Menon

Wayanad 01 - The Smell Of Death

Rating: 5.0

It was raining in torrents since morning
At nightfall it was still raining
Many smelled death in the air
But had no place to go
And no way to go anywhere
Families huddled together
Challenging death to take everyone!

By morning, nothing remained
No men, no houses, no schools,
no children, no nothing
Everything vanished under
a huge pall of mud and rocks
and trees and water and whatnot!

In the eerie silence
rain fell like thunder.
death's final dance,
Her smell spreading.

Very pathetic. We are helpless and insecure in front of nature's fury....

It is heart wrenching scene at Wayanad of Kerala.Men are so helpless when nature's fury is unleashed with such magnitude. Some tourists from Odisha have also died in the disaster.
