We Aren’t A Pair Of Slippers Yet Poem by Mark Heathcote

We Aren’t A Pair Of Slippers Yet

If you ask me to love you
Then, what should I do?
We aren’t a pair of slippers yet.

Surely, you don’t mean I can’t?
Change into another shoe.

If you ask me to love you
Boy o boy, I’m stuck heel to sole
Toe to toe, bonded, for all eternity.

And, I’m no cobbler dear
So who’s going to fix the damn holes?
