We Must Care Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

We Must Care

We must care

Youths
-in times
Can be our best teachers
-I learned from my students
-their questions
-their whispers
-and faces that they make
-on your back.

Youths
-in times
Can be our best teachers
-when they are
-piggy banks
-of secrets and their needs
-and parents and creeds
-yes indeed; show listless!

Youths
-in times
Can be our best teachers
-when blush; are virgin:
"Did you know when not born? "
"Do you know when asleep? "
"Why to care for unseen? "
"Who knows of after death? "

Youths
-always
Are, can be, our teachers
-this is why we love them
-this is why we should care.
Nephew said:
"Hey uncle!
-what is use of a child?
-why should I leave behind?
(Child or wealth, any kind…)
-let us share what we have
-let's become socialist!

Youths-always-are, can be, our teachers…
