We Must Remember Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

We Must Remember

We must remember

Long has past
-very long
-things have changed
-in a way…except for:
-'Scare them, show power!
-…it works well and too well…
-…you can have position as ruler…'

It was in or around
-the nineteen sixty eight when I went to States
-would become flyer for Air-Force…

I got lost and ended in a Mall
-in search of a true USA

Lost and found, humour
-in a bus and scared
-ended there when seeking safety!

Happily went to the Mezzanine
-encountered ladies' wear
-and mainly for under
-felt ashamed and wished death
-saw two girls laughing loud
-I thought of me as cause and subject…

Went to them and sought help
-imagine being poor in their tongue
-and fear adding to feeling dumb…
-'Help me please to go down…'

Finally they asked where I came from
-Iran and Persian Gulf did not work, did Russia…
-thanks to the fear of the Cold War

Same shit is now true
-the fear of a war, brainwash
-poor are all my friends
-worst are those who live in USA
-squeezed in a shell
-fooled from toe to head!
