Welcome - A Urdu Poem By Gulzar In English Translation

Suddenly
my room shook
a fierce gust of wind came in
and turned everything upside down -
the curtains flapped
hit the glassware on the table
they fell everywhere
the pages of a book fluttered
the inkpot dived and colored all blank papers
the pictures in frames hanging on the wall
turned their necks to look at you.

Come again like this
into my room

And let the room know
you are with me.
