Welcoming Destination Poem by Uriah Hamilton

Welcoming Destination

Rating: 4.0

Every one was ashamed
remembering someone they hurt
as they meditated
in the soft weeping rain.

Disagreeable to friends
and strangers,
unkind to family members,
there is no purpose
to such a life
so vacant 0f light,

But there's no need to be hysterical
in defeat,
dramatic in failure,
merely repent
and begin anew.

There have been
too many hectic days
feeling flushed with sorrow,
but sunlight
is reemerging
over the horizon.

A simple smile
is so alluring,
inviting new dreams,
like arriving at last
to a welcoming destination.

With what new eyes
we shall gaze
at each other
when we learn to forgive.

After a night
of intense struggle,
I'll hug your neck at dawn
and be grateful again.
