Welfare of the World
I came to bring about the world's welfare,
Yet could not shift even a single straw;
How can I possibly free this world
From all its agonies?
Hidden within every pair of eyes
Is life's restless thirst;
Hidden in every single particle
Is the life-source of the entire world.
Hidden in every single particle
Is the dirge of Hiroshima and Nagasaki;
Hidden in the rubble of the Twin Towers
Are the screams of a thousand souls.
How can I bear such wailing,
Now that the Earth has become a battlefield?
