Were I a better man
maybe I could hold your hand
care for your heart
and walk in your dreams
were I a better man
perhaps I may hold you close
tightly in my arms each night
know your kiss and look
of serenity
were I a better man
what a life we could lead
lovers, best friends, confidants
were I a better man
these would be more than words
of a deluded dreamer
a poet living within his means
