Whale Farm

Their size and strength
almost enough to ensure their survival,
whales used their intelligence
for making up songs.
They were the poetry lovers of the deep.

When modification set in,
humans used them for pulling cargo
to save the world from ships and carbon.
They eliminated their deep poetry love
and their need to dive
and made them content to only float above.
