What A Change Of Mind! Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

What A Change Of Mind!

A child who might be in second class
walked into the optical centre with his father,
and posed a strange question to him.
“ Aren’t I your son? ”.
I closed the journal I was reading
and looked at that mystic.
His father being more alert, said:
“ The boy going late to school
can’t be my son”.
The boy squabbled and cried:
“ I’m your son, I’m your son! ”
To make him calm, his father recanted:
“ Yes, you’re my dear son! ”.
“ Oh, you say ‘yes’. So you buy a cooling glass to me”,
saying, the young one began to pester.

How such cute nippers transform into
mindless suicide bombers,
and rogues pushing the innocent ones before a running train!
