What can I say to help you past,
the sadness that you live,
Soft words could not erase the hurt,
no solace can I give.
For scars run, oh so very deep,
bitter words, still scald your soul,
Locked in your painful memories,
Secrets kept, so sad, untold,
I know you whisper to the winds,
what you can't say to me,
The winds can keep your secrets,
but they cant help set you free,
And sometimes, oh so very slight,
a softened thought is said,
a mystery, to most I think,
Between the lines i read,
Behind the strong unfaltering stare,
Soft eyes, a frightened child,
And when your guard eventually falls,
Your soul is reconciled;
I think you said it all here Laurie.... Beautiful write. HG: -) xx
Such a sensitive poem written with wisdom and concern. The words inspire those who read it and thank you for its beauty. 10 Karin Anderson
Needless to say Laurie this poem makes so much sense to me emotionaly, a lovely piece Tracy
What a compassionate gift from a sensitive heart to one person, spilled over in Poemhunter to many! Yes, it is so heart-breaking when one wants to help, but one feels so helpless – but the comfort is that every tiny attempt makes a difference, although it may not seem so, at the time. Diana
