What Do You Do Poem by Juan Olivarez

What Do You Do

What do you do, with a broken heart,
Stick it in the closet,
Or bury it in the backyard?

What can you do with a tattered soul,
Stitch it with thread,
Or throw it out in the cold?

What do you do with the memories,
Push the knob to erase,
Or watch them flee on the breeze?

What do you do, at the end of the day,
When love is lost,
Do you leave, or do you stay?

What do you do, when tomorrow is today,
And your round trip ticket,
Was only one way?

What do you do, what have you done,
That all of your life,
Has come undone?

Stop asking questions, open your eyes,
Time heals all wounds,
And time does fly.
