What I Needed Poem by Ray Hansell

What I Needed

I’m making it on my own
I’m coping with being alone
I do fine expect
When old memories creep up on me
That’s when I feel the loneliest

At first it was hard getting over you
But as each day passed
So did a little more of the pain
Now I’m at the point
Where I accept our separation
It’s not what I wanted
But it’s something that I needed
I still love you
That won’t ever change
But parts of my life
I have to rearrange
