Its hard for me to remember
that dress you wore in late September
when your smile still flared with summer
and your patented rustic charm
made the autumn nights more warmer
and left my armoured heart disarmed
Lost in What I thought was Love
and Saturdays felt like golden years
that never knew or drew a tear
we could talk through slumbered hours
walking through this sleeping town
as I bathed in your lips of bliss
floating down in eiderdown
Lost in What I thought was Love
But now tomorrow has arrived
and reality has revived
as your face is just a picture
worn and wrapped in calico fabric
and all that's left are memories
in someone's broken magic
Lost In What I thought Was Love
A beautiful, poignant and deeply touching poem of love. The superb imagery of this write makes a reader feel the deep emotions embedded in every line.
Kevin, you have so perfectly captured the polar opposites of a love that was not meant to be. I could really feel your very deep pain. Truly...an outstanding poem of bittersweet love and a broken heart. Such a great write!
