What Is This Stuff Called Money? Poem by Hannington Mumo

What Is This Stuff Called Money?

Who invented this stuff called money -
Sought by kings and minions alike,
Liked by priests and thieves all the same,
Loved by all the Annas and so interests Mike?

Such a slippery value for which many kill:
A lure of all, the medium of commerce,
Buyer of both pompous evil and pious good
And a swerver of the most intent will?

What stuff is this that even the Bible quotes
As the instigator and cradle of all atrocities
And the panacea to all as the ecclesiast says?
Someone tell me what's this that rules the cities!
