What Now My Love? Poem by Robert Edgar Burns

What Now My Love?

Is there any point in hanging around?
Should I put my feet back on the ground?
Would I have lost you anyhow?
I'd like some answers please right now!

Is there a way to make you mine?
To keep you with me for all time?
If there is not then I must say,
I think it's time I went away.

I can't get over what I see,
Standing right in front of me.
If I leave it's because of you,
ignoring me, why can't you see?

I think I'll pack and walk to town.
I've lost the happiness that I had found.
And if I turn and look behind,
it's because you’re on my mind.

Oh girl I will come running back,
I hope you know this is a fact.
I couldn't stand a day away,
Can I please come on back to stay?

I don't want to live without your love,
it was sent to me right from above.
And if you keep ignoring me,
That is where i'm going to be!

So won't you dear please turn around.
can you see me here down on the ground?
Won't you lift me up i'll do no harm?
Won't you let me take you in my arms?

I can't get over what I see,
standing right in front of me!
If I can't have this precious jewel,
I’ve been a fool.... Yes a big fool!

A nice rhythmic movement as the lines are written according to a tune. A good poem to cherish.
