What People Taught Me Poem by Abby Sze

What People Taught Me

Try to scare me,
But as Eminem said,
I am not afraid,
To take a stand.

Try to threaten me,
But as William Ernest Henley said,
My head maybe bloody,
But unbowed.

Try to put me on table,
But as Bruce Lee said,
Take things as they are,
Punch when you need to.

In the time of suffering,
Don't close your window.
It just shut the breeze to calm your face,
Cover the sun shine on your palm,
Block the sound as the leaves waving in air,
And the birds that sing shall never be heard.

Be living in the moment.
Laugh as funny things come,
Focus as you need to get things done,
Brave as to cross obstacles.
But don't close your window.
Take your stand,
Don't bow,
And
Punch, when you need to.
