What Shapes Us? Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

What Shapes Us?

Rating: 5.0

When it comes to thinking…
Similarities are forever linking.

There are many marvels to be found.
Some of the revelations will astound.

How did each element evolve?
Why does the world revolve?

There are some common prime factors.
Existing in the drafty intellectual rafters.

Gravity and centrifugal forces are contrasting…
Together they create something that is lasting.

A push or a pull sets things in motion after all…
Causing thoughts to ponder events that enthrall.

With a glowing core, the earth is a thriving marble.
It spins knowingly in space without confusing garble.

It wastes no time looking for a proper place…
Amazingly enough it is not lost in outer space.

What forms the inner substance of a human being?
Is there a master crafter contouring and overseeing?

A human glob of protein laced with fat and bone
Does not become well rounded without a groan.

With highs and lows, pulls and pushes, tugs and shoves…
We form into a polished human orb that hates and loves

Each of us is a compact package of unique qualities.
Individuals relating to one another in a can of peas.

This and that, cleverly form complete human lumps.
A sparkling spirit within the soul helps avoid bumps.

There is one thing that sets us apart from other objects.
It is that we look for answers concerning many subjects.

Rather than being a lifeless mass spinning eternally.
We have minds that search for purpose internally.
