What Would I Do Poem by Randy McClave

What Would I Do

If I were given a crayon
I know that I would want to draw,
Maybe I would color a beautiful swan
Then I would color it without one single flaw.
If I were given a crayon to draw.

If I were given a pencil or a pen
I know that I would want to write,
Maybe about where I am going or where I've been
That anticipation and desire does incite.
That is if I were given a pencil or pen to write.

If I were given a book
That book hastily I would want to read,
I would do more than to just skim and look
And every word in it I would devour and heed.
That is if I were given a book to read.

If I were given a fishing rod
I know that I would want to go and fish,
I might catch a Bass or maybe even a cod
Catching a big one would be my ultimate wish.
That is if I were given a rod to fish.

If I were given a baseball bat
A baseball I know I would want to hit,
I would hit it with a good solid splat
That I would truly enjoy I do happily admit.
That is if I were given a baseball bat to hit.

If I were given a wrench and a screwdriver
I certainly would find something to repair,
I indeed would be a striver
And to fix anything I know I'd fix it with a flair.
That is if I were given tools to repair.

If I were given a rifle or a gun
I truly don't know what I would do,
Is it for recreational or for protection or for fun
Would my brain and fingers know what is true.
If I had a gun or a rifle what would I really do.
