When I First Said Hello Poem by Randy McClave

When I First Said Hello

When I first saw you,
You did intrigue,
I wanted to pursue
But, you were out of my league.

I wanted to go,
Through sadness and bereft,
But, I first had to say hello
Before you left.

Before I spoke,
Or thought my idea through,
My emotions they awoke
When I first saw you.

Wishes I did collect,
As I had watched you pass,
With your agency and self respect
You were in a different class.

'You are better than me',
Once said this nervous fellow,
Now we're flying over a sea
I am glad, that I said hello.
