When I Leave Here Poem by Randy McClave

When I Leave Here

When I leave this world one day
This will be the last statement of mine that I will pray,
And I know that God will be listening
As my soul will then be glistening.
No one did I ever use or abused
And no one did I ever falsely accused,
To no one did I ever lie or cheated
And unto no one was I ever conceited.
I am better than no one, and no one is better than me
I say that with a proudness and a glee,
And for everyone I always did care
And when anyone needed my help, I was always there.
I never believed in gossip or rumors
I see them only as ugly tumors,
They are used to destroy the body and the soul
That is there only goal.
I never broke a promise when I gave my word
Truth and honesty I always preferred,
And I have never hated a person and then judge
And unto no one did I ever hold a hate or a grudge.
If I owed you a dollar I would always return it to you
Honesty and integrity I never did lack which is true,
And no matter what others might had said or proclaimed
Of no one was I ever embarrassed, or ever ashamed.
I never gave out lies or false excuses
For any reasons or their uses,
And no matter who anyone was
I was there for them, and I always gave them my help and love.
If anyone ever needed to borrow my very last dollar
I'd give it to them without a hesitation or a holler,
I'd even give them the shirt off my very back
If a shirt they did lack.
I daily check on all the friends that I do know
To see if they are alright or need anywhere to go,
I do it with no recourse or with any favors in mind
I always enjoy being helpful and kind.
Though I might have been tricked, deceived or had
I'm not at all upset or even mad,
Because while the victories and wins that they were notching
I was learning, and God was watching.
Those will be the very last words that I will ever speak
As probably once again I will turn the other cheek,
And then, when or if you ever walk past my grave
Remember, that God gave me the understanding to make me brave.
