The gumamela tree is gone, cut down
Along with the few coconut trees
That stood in the front and back yard of our home
For many years they stood, enduring the whims of nature
And the fickle mood of weather that changes now and then
Now only the stumps are left of themsmall parts of what used to betrees standing upright under the rain and the sun
Their life is over when we decided to cut them down
They have outgrown their usefullness and are no longer needed
The coconut trees grew taller in height and their leaves got in the way
Life of the trees is similar to ours in some ways
Their lifespan is decided by nature or man just like how our life is ended
We either die a natural death from old age or other men take our lives at their will through different means
When we have served our purpose and played our roles
Their life is over when we decided to cut them down They have outgrown their usefullness and are no longer needed the life of the tree is similar to our lives. wisdom from this meditation of the trees helps your readers dear poetess. tony
The connection between the life(and death) of a tree and the ones of a human is very very interesting.Excellent poem!
This philosophic write has us questioning why. Why do we do the things that we do? Everyone will answer differently.+++10

A great poem that vividly depicts the realities of life. Yes, life of trees is similar to ours in some ways. But, sometimes there are instances when lives of men and trees are prematurely taken without having served their very purpose in life because of cruelties of man and due to devastation brought about by forces of nature. A beautifully crafted write.10
