When Your Cat Scratches You Poem by Paula Glynn

When Your Cat Scratches You

When your cat scratches you
You know you're in trouble
Do these things come in three?
And you hope your blood you don't see
For an excited cat is a dangerous cat.

Never walk into a tiger or lion enclosure
Knowing big cats beautiful but dangerous
Better to see through a human cage
Perhaps at the New Zealand animal park
Their close-up to big cats experience safe.

Realizing animals beautiful but dangerous
Does perpetually protect humans
From animal encounters and attacks
Although animals have been known
To come to the rescue of people.

Like a pride of strong four lions
Rightfully scaring off a group of men
With unknown reasons attempting to abduct
An innocent six year old girl
But the girl later found safe with her lion saviours.

Other animals known to save human lives
All documented on YouTube videos
Animals to be treasured and protected
Even when the lovely neighbour's cat
Scratches you accidentally in excitement.

And many believe animals to have souls
Animals deeply clever and intuitive
From domestic pets to animals in the wild
And we do take care around any animal
And have a deep respect for their power and allure.
