Where Does One Begin? Poem by Tricia Mae Chua

Where Does One Begin?

Where does one begin to find someone like you?
Will he be hidden away within the pages of some dusty old book?
In between the verses of a forgotten poem?
In the words of a painful love song?

Tell me, where should I go to find someone like you?
Behind the Southern Cross? To the end of the rainbow?
Underneath a four-leaf clover?
Along the shore of some ancient coastline?
On the wing of a seabird in mid flight?

Could he be riding on a tail of a falling star?
Beneath the deep blue waters of the dark Atlantic?
Or in the cool air of the easterlies?

Please tell me where.
