Where The Heart Is Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Where The Heart Is

One of us does not belong here!
You make appearances all over the place...
Defending your right to be who you are.
Taking what does not belong to you,
And calling it yours!
Even by doing that...
You lack ability to maintain order!
And everywhere I go I feel absolutely comfortable!
And you tell me I have issues and baggage?
Until someone insists I'm not convincing enough...
By making attempts to reduce me to depths,
Of their insecurities!
With promotions of accomplishments imagined!
I'll remain quite focused.
But then...
I'm not all over the place,
Trying to find my way 'home'!
Isn't that where the heart is?
And why so many are without them!
