Where This Lonely Day Is Almost Gone (Italian Sonnet) Poem by Gert Strydom

Where This Lonely Day Is Almost Gone (Italian Sonnet)

Very much I fancy being with the lady
who at this time already might be at rest,
to a simple life with me I want to suggest,
as she is kind and dear and sincere to me,

and this is no bewitching or necromancy,
as of all women I do know her the best
where my time and friendship she does request
and by her in my life I am truly blessed,
as she is to my longing and life the key

and to her I do fervently wish to go
but for the right opportunity I wait.
Tonight a bird's call adds loneliness on
Sincerely and intimately I do her know
and to phone her right now it's much too late,
where this lonely day is almost gone.
