Five kittens live outside of my house.
Ashes is looking out from inside.
Five kittens are sitting in a line parallel to the house.
Ashes sits with straight front legs and meows to outside kittens.
Hearing the meows, the kittens look around
Then they meow back to Ashes.
Looking at each other through sliding glass door
Which is kept a little ajar so fresh air can come in
Ashes attempts to get out through this crack
While outside kittens try to get in.
Outside kittens enjoy fresh air and freedom.
House cat wants to roam freely outside.
Free roaming cats may not have regular meals
While house cat will be fed good food every day.
Which cat will be happier?
The one with good food and housing
Or the roaming one with fresh air and freedom?

MÈO NÀO HẠNH PHÚC NHIỀU HƠN?

Năm mèo con ở phía ngoài
Ashes thì ở trong nhà nhìn ra.
Năm mèo ngồi xếp hàng ngang
Ashes ngồi xổm, meo-meo tiếng chào.
Mèo con nghe thế, nhìn nhau
Thế rồi chúng cũng đua nhau đáp lời.
Nhìn nhau qua cửa kiếng to
Cửa này mở hé khí thơm lọt vào.
Ashes tìm cách đi ra
Trong khi mèo nhỏ mong vào bên trong.
Mèo ngoài hưởng khí tự do
Mèo trong cũng muốn chạy rong ngoài đường.
Mèo ngoài bữa đói bữa no
Mèo trong ba bữa lại còn ăn ngon.
Mèo nào hạnh phúc nhiều hơn,
Giường êm nệm ấm hay đời tự do?
