Walking on the 68’Th Street
That was flanked by maple trees
Autumn was on its peak
All you saw was a golden streak

As the leaves wore a golden hue
There I saw you dressed in royal blue
You gave me a hearty smile
I felt I could walk a thousand miles

As I reached out you pulled me closer
And gently whispered in my ear.....
Will you be mine forever and ever
I smiled as I did wonder will we ever be together

I agreed as I did not have an illusion
The universe seems to dance with me in unison
You carried me in your strong arms
Ushered me to the alter like a prince in form

Looking into your blue eyes I said I do
As we pledged our sacred vows due
I was enchanted and enthralled
It seemed God’s came as a witness for all

My happiness knew no bounds
I started hearing each and every little sound
However, I knew for sure this is gonna go soon

You buried your head in my lap
And said in a voice low
My love, my life I’ve got to go

I’ve to defend my honor
Away and afar in a dark distant corner
I saw you leave as you kissed goodbye
Tears swell and start rolling down my eyes

You promised you won’t be long gone
Within no time you will come along
How I wanted to hear you whisper
Soothing like a baby’s whimper

Oh! How much I miss your caress
Smell the scent of your cologne fresh
Look in your eyes and brush your silky hair aside

My dreams were cut short and dry
When I saw men in green coming by
I knew the news they were gonna give
You were long gone and I had to live

Now whenever the leaves rustle
Or the little spiders hustle
The train blows a soft whistle

When the rain pours
Or a tiny flower grows
I always feel you being near
Whispering gently in my ear.....
