Whispers To Mom Poem by Fatima Alvarez

Whispers To Mom

How do I tell you I'm scared if you've never shown fear?
How do I tell you I'm broken if you've always fixed me?
How do I tell you I'm losing this fight if you are the one getting beaten?
How do I tell you I'm not hungry when you haven't eaten?
How do I tell you my voice has been silenced if you heard my first words?
How do I tell you I'm lost in a world that you've built just for me?
How do I tell you I don't know how to walk when I see your footprints?
How do I tell you I'm weak if you're in my genes?
How do I tell you I'm tired of sleeping when you've been awake?
How do I tell you I'm drowning although I can swim?
How do I tell you my kingdom has fallen when you are my queen?
How do I tell you the magic has ended when you are my fairy?
How do I tell you I love you after all of the weight that you've carried?
