Looking tired and frail
Each wrinkle a sign of a weary tale
Who is this person staring back at me?
I feel as if I should know who it is?
Troubled soul seen deep in lifeless eyes
Asking so many whys?
Self-body shaming I can hardly look
Blinking hoping this vision will change, this quivering shell
Leaning forward in disbelief
The physical and mental grieve
Showcase of life's effects
Frightened of what's behold, the next steps
A face covered with the writing of despair
What a state the consequence of lack of self-care
Time running out, ageing each second
Where did the positivity of my younger self go?
Realisation it's you in the mirror
Acceptance things have changed and you're not the same figure
Reality now kicking in, it's you, it's you are ringing in your ear
The journey starts, the penny drops where the mind joins the physical you
When got a grasp that it's me staring back at me
Feel as if it's the starting point to set myself free
Start living today, life too short to delay
With love with care you and walk into a better day
