Why Didn't You Tell Us? Poem by Sebastian Melmoth

Why Didn't You Tell Us?

What was going through your beautiful head, what secret you kept in your loving heart, you
didn't want to bother anyone, off load your worries to those you love.

Why didn't you tell us?

Full of life right until the end, you were a complex kaleidoscope of colour shining on the world we wished you could have kept you forever.

You were never going to let your illness beat you, strong and free you were in control of your journey in control of your destiny.

Why didn't you tell us?

No memories of life in decline life seeping from the tree, just one day the world stood still, and you stopped, leaving us scratching our heads, searching deep into our souls.

Confide in me, tell me your secret, give a sign, give a clue, that just wasn't your style, you kept your dignity, you kept your truth.

Why didn't you tell us?

Each one of us soldiers your own army of love ready to help, if only we knew what you were going through, in the end we were the reservists that never got the call.

You're in the heavens now we have no doubt as we remember you caring, shaking things up, busy sorting things out with those that have passed before.

Why didn't you tell us?

Love couldn't save you, we wished that's all it could take, you're an angel shining above with your love beaming down wrapping us in your amazing glow with your beautiful smile.

Now we know the truth, now we know, the master plan revealed for the world to see, if only we could have said we love you again, now we look above in hope you can hear us.

We will now try to understand the plan behind the smiles, it was your choice you played it well, you did it your way.
