Who Picks The Magic Number?

There is something wrong in our world,
No one seems to care about in any way
Separation the people keeps growing, each day,
The average person, a hard worker, just a number,
If it is not high enough, your just one in a line,
Who picks the magic number, where your name shines.
Anyone know the wealth, you need to be newsworthy
Look at the Covid virus, the way it's reported today,
The wealthy, Get their name with a story if they sick,
The rest just a number, no name mentioned, not a lick,
Who picks the magic number, of wealth in their mind,
That makes you newsworthy at any time.
